How House Star Jennifer Morrison Beats Bad Days

Q: You seem to be such an upbeat person. If you’re having a bad day, how do you flip it?
Sometimes I don’t! But working out will give me a place to put energy. If I’m in a bad mood, though, I won’t watch comedy. I’ll just think, Ahh, that’s not funny. I’ll have to watch a foreign film. I’m telling you, foreign films are the solution for a lot of problems! If I can’t sleep, it’s usually because I’m overthinking something. But if you watch an old French film, your brain gets engaged on so many levels, and you fall asleep faster.

Q: What else puts you in a good mood?
Oh my gosh, 100%, spaghetti and meatballs. I could eat it for every meal. And I’m very lucky, I have a lot of people to cheer me up. Number one on the list right now would be my boyfriend [Prison Break actor Amaury Nolasco].

Q: What’s your idea of real romantic commitment?
My parents have set a really high standard of what I want in my life. Whether they’re getting along or disagreeing, it’s always coming from a place of love. It’s interesting: You can love someone, but it doesn’t mean they are the person to spend your life with. I’ve been through it [in 2007, Morrison split from her fiancé, House M.D. co-star Jesse Spencer], where you think, I know I really love them, but it doesn’t necessarily make it right for either of you. [With Jesse,] nothing horrible happened. Neither of us cheated. We just weren’t right for each other.

Q: What’s the best advice you could give about getting over a breakup?
Oh, I could write a book about that one! But I think, ultimately, it’s about taking care of yourself. Be a little more focused on, “OK, what can I do today that I always wanted to do?” As soon as you start doing those things for yourself, it’s like an unwritten rule of the universe that things start to fall into place. When you’re happy in your own skin, someone who is right for you will be drawn to you naturally.

Q: You just turned 30. Is there anything you want to accomplish by the time you turn 40? Or 50?
You know, there’s a saying that if you want to make God laugh, make a plan. And in a good way, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by my life so many times. So I really have let go of trying too hard to plan anything. Sometimes things turn out even better than you could have hoped or planned.

Thank you so much for interviewing Jennifer Morrison. Will she be in the printed edition too?

  • Sandra

Thank you for this lovely interview! Jennifer Morrison is so beautiful and yet so down-to-earth!

  • Jill

I don’t like her at all. She is the most narcissistic and self aggrandizing person I’ve ever met.

    • Katie

She used to be someone I had a great amount of respect for, but I’ve since lost all admiration for her. I agree wholeheartedly with Wilma, Dawn, and Jill: Jennifer Morrison comes across as nothing save pretentious and megalomaniacal. And to Sarah, I’m a diehard Cameron/Chameron fan, and I don’t like Jennifer Morrison. …Just saying…

      • Briteen

It’s more pretentious pretending to know someone who you’ve never met in real life and bash that person. Just saying.

    • Lau

She’s beautiful and very generous. Jill, please don’t use terms like narcissistic and self aggrandizing person. I’m a fan, and this is an insult.

  • Wilma

I have never met her but her interviews are always filled with self-indulgent statements, which come across phony and pompous.

  • Alex

She’s lovely. What a great interview. Thanks

  • Sarah

Jill/Wilma, jealous much, let me guess, you’re a bitter Huddy/Cuddy fan, right?

  • Dawn

Well Sarah, I don’t think you have to be a jealous Cuddy fan to not like J. Morrison. I don’t like her either. She always has to tell people how sure she is of herself. Don’t get me wrong it’s great to be confident but with her it always sounds like: “I know, I’m so much better than other people”.

    • Sandra

I have to ask: why do you read an interview with her when you don’t even like her? I don’t read interviews with actors I don’t like or I’m not interested in, so why read it and even worse comment? There are other actresses in this industry who are by far more arrogant that Jennifer Morrison, she’s just a nice, self-confident person. My opinion about Lisa Edelstein, for example, is exactly like yours about Jennifer – which is why I neither read nor comment on interviews with her or articles about her. Sometimes it’s just better to shut up, you know?

  • Sarah

Well Dawn, I think Jennifer Morrison is a very down to earth woman and full of life. I love that she’s confident about herself and I doubt that she thinks she’s better than other people.

  • Jenfan

Lovely interview :), such a lovely down to earth person and a gorgeous pic to go with it :)

  • Vitto

    thanks for the nice interview!
I have alredy met her 2 years ago and I can confirm she is down to earth, simple and angelic as she comes uout form her interviews!!!

    thanks again,
    Vittoria

  • Serena

  • Sadie

She’s so wonderful and gorgeous and always seems to be so full of life.
Thanks for the interview, I hope it’s in the printed edition too

  • Kara

She’s such a beautiful person, inside and out.
    Thanks for this wonderful interview

  • Carla

Thank you very much! she is such a beautiful person, and a lovely actress.

  • Kath

What an encouraging interview. She seems like a very sane and well-grounded person, surprising in one so young. She also takes responsiblity for herself and her own life.

She’s also doing a lot of hand-on charity work. She seems like a good role model for young women.

  • vicki

so, is she a brunette, or blonde? She’s been both in the show; who gets to decide anyway? Is her hair color her choice, or the producers?

  • Anna

She’s a natural blonde, but not that blonde, she dyed her hair back to blonde WITH the producers’ consent, they have the last word.

  • lyly

    Thanx for posting this, she’s
so funny, intelligent and BEAUTIFUL… just the best

    Love ya Jen!

  • beth

She is just pathetic. So pretentious…arggggg

    • Alice

Pathetic is posting a comment about someone you don’t even like, why bother to come here and read the interview in the first place? If you want to call someone pretentious look at yourself in the mirror.

  • Valery

Thank you so much for this interview!! I love Her. She’s is beautiful!!!

  • Kefir

i love her on house! i love the way her clothes fit her on the set! no wonder, she’s a health buff too!

  • Sheri

How silly and shallow to make any judgments on someone you barely or don’t even know!
