As a beauty editor, I’m exposed to all types of blemish treatments, from gels to creams to lotions. Years ago, I found the perfect zit fighter. It was created by the owner of a New York City day spa who boasted the Kennedy clan as clients. Unfortunately, the spa closed and the product line was discontinued and I’ve yet to find a good replacement—until now. Made up of the same zit fighting ingredients in the day spa product (calamine and salicylic acid), Mario Badescu Drying Lotion literally dries up my zits in less than 24 hours.
The smelly (think rubbing alcohol) pink liquid is applied by dipping a Q-tip straight to the bottom of the glass bottle. You work your way first through a clear liquid, then through a creamier consistency below. Because it leaves a pink mark on your face, it’s best to apply this drying lotion before bed.
I’d love to hear if you like this product as much as I do. E-mail me at Colleen_Sullivan@health.com.

I happen to be a fan of the Mario Badescu products, especially this one. I have clear skin except for the random pimple or two before my period and this stuff works! I do find, however, that I need to use it two nights in a row for it to really dry out the entire pimple but it works wonders!
@healthydoses It’s really not an old wives’ tale. I’ve tried the egg white facemask, and it’s an instant zit-eliminator. Like Jenn, I have clear skin except just before my period or if I’ve eaten too many chocolates (smile), but the egg white does one better than “drying out the entire pimple.” Just when I feel one coming on, I apply the egg white facemask, and by morning, the pimple never rises! read about it here: http://tinyurl.com/qj5n2t
I purchased Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion after reading raves about it for years, however, it has not cleared up my acne. Since I didn’t want to waste the product (it did cost over $17), I used it on mosquito bites (it contains calamine lotion the “pink liquid” Colleen Sullivan refers to, above), and it worked well. I get occasional breakouts, and I’ve used Neutrogena’s Advanced Solutions product, and my dermatologist gave me Adult Acnomel, which works really well, and acts as a concealer, too!
This is a great product. I find that tea tree oil works well too and is a little cheaper.
