You can fix age spots, stretch marks, varicose veins, and other unsightly spots. Here’s how.
Smooth tough areas
“Moisturizers with high concentrations of urea are great for rough elbows, knees, and feet. Urea works to pull moisture into the skin while also breaking down dry, scaly spots.” —Amy Wechsler, MD, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center
Try: Bioelements Calmitude Sensitive Skin Moisturizer ($35).

Hydrate from within
“One of the reasons young skin looks so smooth is because its cells are strong and retain water well, preventing dehydration. To improve the health of your skin, try taking glucosamine supplements—they boost the production of water-binding hyaluronic acid in the skin—and omega-3 fatty acid supplements.” —Howard Murad, MD, associate clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California, Los Angeles

Has anyone found a product that actually helps in the treatment of acne? I have tried too many to list of products and treatments. I have a 19yr. old who is battling self esteem issues do to the acne. Any helpful tips, suggestions or what successful treatments you have had would be helpful. Thank you so much!
A concerned parent
Proactive works very well
Please take her to a dermatologist and consider using Accutane. She will have to be on birth control or promise to be abstinent, but getting rid of her acne will be worth anything. It seems to run in my family and I and my children and now my granddaughter have all used Accutane successfully. Not having the constant breakouts really makes a BIG difference in one’s self esteem. Good luck!
My daughter and son used Proactive for awhile but they did not like having to use all the products they send and the cost was way too expensive. We changed to “Thoroughly Clean Face Wash” by Desert Essence. I feel it works as well or better and is easy to wash with. A gentle cleansing solution is their description.
I buy it at Trader Joe’s (the best price) and find it at Fred Meyer in the Northwest. They have a website DesertEssence.com
I use it daily because it makes my skin feel good and clean.
Try Solodyn prescribed by a dermatologist. It absolutely works and I saw results within 3 days with no side effects.
Patti, my teenagers suffered from terrible acne. They are now 47 and 44. On a trip to Europe when they were 18 and 15, they did not drink any milk nor any orange juice. We were there for 2 months. When we got back to the States, their faces and backs were totally cleared up. They got right back on the milk and OJ, as if to make up for not having OJ and milk for two months and sure enough, within a week they started breaking out badly again. My youngest son also suffered from acne when he became a teenager. He was put on Accutane. It helped; however, during a meeting with the school counselor we were told he had threatened suicide 4 times. We were stunned.(The counselor obtained his permission to tell us this.) Many years later, I found out that Accutane has potentially that effect on teens using this medicine for acne. Not worth it.
I started the birth control Yasmin and it has done wonders for my face! I had oily skin with acne and now I have perfect, healthy, radiant skin!
I am 55 years old and had tried expensive skin care products to no avail. I have combination dry to oily skin especially around my eyes. The color on my face is not even theres always a darker and lighter shade especially around my checks. any suggestions I’m broke buying all expensive stuff. someone told me extra virgin olive oil works but I haven’t tried it yet.
I HAVE A DRY SKIN & SMALL PIMPLES ON MY FACE I DONT KNOW WHICH CREM I SHOULD USE PLZ HELP ME OUT
Don’t everyone freak out, but sunshine goes a very long way in reducing acne. And, there’s extensive (google Vitamin D/sunshine if you don’t believe me) research to say that Vitamin D Deficiency is epidemic in America. Get some sun (or, in winter a tanning salon used judiciously) and see your skin clear up for free (or not too expensive with a winter tanning membership). Vitamin D also reduces risk of all internal lethal cancers that are undetectable until it’s too late, and melanoma too. Sunscreen is toxic and showing up in dangerous levels in the liver after large study, and now is in our watertables. Sunshine helps acne. And it’s right outside your door…
Acne is so evil isn’t it? And nothing should mess with our child’s self esteem! Healthy living is a given but what has helped me the most after I gave up on designer regiments and prescriptions is Burt’s Bee Tomato Soap-Walgreens & Target sell it for under $10 bucks! There is also a tomato toner but I have found that now that my skin has cleared up I don’t need the toner everyday.
Best wishes!
Retin-A and Differin work wonders. Even if you decide not to use a prescription, see a dermatologist. They’ll be able to help you the most and accurately diagnose what’s going on with your skin. A great tool (expensive) is the Clearsonic cleansing brush. It’s basically an electric toothbrush for your face, and is awesome.
I have Tried EVERYTHING for my acne(incuding proactive)but nothing works.Any suggestions?
I agree a Retina-A and Differin works! I swear by Clindoxyl. I tried everything including Accutane. I also found being on the pill helped alot.
I have had cystic acne(causes bad deep scaring) through my teens and early adult, tried everything, but have found that over the years the best thing to do is keep your hands off your face. This helps because our hands touch so many things that are covered in bacteria. I find that I really do touch my skin alot so I have to remind myself not to do this. Drinking lots of fresh water and eating fruits and veggies helps. Alot of acne is caused by food allergies and too much product on the skin. One of the best things that I have done is have microdermabrasion done over several years. It did help clear up my hyperpigmitation and reduce pore size. I don’t apply any makeup with my fingers and use all natural produces to cleanse my skin, makeup included. I am 45 years old and most people think I am 32 but I attribute this to getting rid of the toxics in my house and on my skin. Hope this helps. Good luck everyone!

pains in the breast
i have a problem with rosea need advice
iam 18yrs old and i have the marks of pimples on my face. i want to get ride of it. plz suggest something for it.
I’ve suffered from acne for practically my entire life. I’ve tried everything, medication, proactive, all different soaps, creams. You name it. Nothing worked. Someone mentioned trying to drink unsweetened green tea, whyich worked for me like magic! I drink 2-3 cups per day. It has cleared up a bacterial condition called candidae which exists in the stomach. Surface clensers don’t go deep enough to treat this.
don’t use dis its realli bad cuz it can’t help uu do anything for ur skin
ssooooooooo bad srry hun
u should use dis srryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
srryyy babez
I have had acne since I was a teenager. I used every product and even saw a dermatologist. Nothing worked until I tried Acne Statin. Look it up on the internet. I’ve been using it for 15 years and still LOVE IT!! No one could even guess that I have acnet. It’s the only thing that’s worked for me.
Don’t wait!…..it’s worth it!!
“goats milk soap” worked for my mother and I. Good Luck
i have acne breakouts i need help from this
life-ruining pimple problem.
PLEAZE HELP!!!!
nothing to costly please.
While milk is very good for the skin, I began taking beta carotene supplements over 15yrs ago…it has what they put into Retina…My oversized, oily pores shrank & became smooth, the sandpaper scratchiness was replaced by the feel of “baby skin” all over. BUT DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN 1 X2 daily as it builds up in you liver & will poison you because you body cannot metabolize too much…try just 1 daily for about 30days to see the effects…It also happens to help me with my floaters in my eyes (I’m diabetic). Again, avoid taking too much of this mineral for the sake of your liver…I was taking 15 daily for 15+ years & I am still alive but my liver enzymes are elevated…good luck
I would suggest a very effective remedy, it worked well for my daugher. Mix yeast with warm water or milk, apply religiously for one week and you would see the difference by yourself and suggest your daughter to drink plenty of water.
We have all heard that healthy eating is not only good for the body, but it is also good for the skin. I have 7 sisters and none of us have acne. Of all their children, none of those had acne with the exception of one niece and her son. They eat at all the fast food places, tons of sugar and pop etc.
It is so easy to eat healthy, when the fresh fruits and vegetables are out, enjoy them as often as you can. Don’t eat the skin and fats from your meats and in general stay away from the junk food. Walk, run or do activities that keeps your blood flowing and quinch your thirt with water.
You can apply those fresh fruits smashed and apply to your skin as well, they would wonders, get some healthy receipts from the net.
In the end, remember the old saying “you are what you eat”, well it is so true!
Rosea is much harder problem to deal with but it can be controlled, you can find info about that by typing it into the net as well.
Good luck to you all, the easiest way to have clear skin is to do what nature intended :-)
try Acnefree.it cleared my acne and the toner is great for closing up pores and clearing oil clots.it is not expensive and not drying as well. Have used proactive, murad, natural essence but didn’t work as well as acnefree.
clean your face with natural milk then spray rose water on your face and then apply eryderm or betnovate pn acne it really works
I think the best treatment for acne is Accutane, it’s a wonder drug. My daughter had the worst acne and now how beautiful skin thanks to Accutane.
Try Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Clear Completion Pads. They contain 10% Gloyclic Acid and .5% Salicyic Acid. They exfoliate the skin and a major cause of acne is oily skin that is also dry because the dry skin in combination with the oily skin clog the open pores. These keep your skin so smooth. I have tried everything and this has worked the best yet.
Tea Tree oil in soap form does wonders it’s a natural astrigent and disinfectant. I and my daughters have used it for years. St Ives used to have it in a foaming face wash or Sally’s beauty supply has a soap or health food stores.
Please be careful using birth control for skin issues. Just heard of a study (Dr. Oz) regarding women on birth control and breast cancer (Study done on women with breast cancer – 90% of these women had been on birth control pills for more than 5 yrs.) Best to check out other skin care options for women!
The best way and low cost of improving your skin get rid of acne when all else fails start drinking a good quality wheatgrass ( powder form) can get a purium products. This will get rid of acne and improve your health just by drinking a green juice daily easy and simple to start .
Four months ago my face looked like a tomato cause it was sooo red. Plus, I had huge bumps everywhere. Turns out I had cystic acne and i was really depressed cause a week before my skin was totally clear. It felt like the end of the world so I went to the dermatologist. Now, after religiously sticking with the meds prescribed, my skin is clearing up! I don’t have a single bump on my face, only pinkish scars. Consult a dermatologist cause they know what’s best for you. You can’t just go and try everything out there cause you might end up using a product that doesn’t target your problem. So in order to avoid wrong self-treatment, I suggest seeking the help of a derma to guide you every step of the way.
I agree with Gwen, tea tree oil soap is amazing! Check out The Body Shop for tea tree products. I also agree with DJ and Danielle. Differin really works! When you feel like you have a bump or you’re about to have one, apply it and 1-2 days later, it’s flat already. Lastly, apply sunscreen before stepping out of the house. The sun would only make your skin, and not just acne, worse than ever.
I have a really good advice for all of you, and is very simple, first stop smoking and any other bad habit, then start cleaning your bowels pretty good, buy a natural intestines and colon cleansing in the natural store nearest you or ask your doctor if you feel like it. After you are really clean, start eating a good and well balanced diet, and I mean by diet not just for a short period of time, do it every day in your life. Eating good doesn’t mean just once in a while, is your body and you have just one body; is like your car, you change oil, fill it with gas, keep track of the liquids when you need it for the whole life of the car, because if you don’t do that then your car will brake really fast. Is your car better than your body??. Go to a good nutritionist or a naturopathy better, and ask for a well balanced diet for every single day in your life and also supplements. You will notice the difference!!!.
Lany, the nutritionist.
Lany, your right on the money however believe or not there are some people out there who follow the recipe you describe and exercises and has an amazingly healthy lifestyle but is still plagued with acne. Not everyone who has acne is ignoring all their other health needs.
At the age of 35 I began to have serious acne and tried several products. I went to the health food store and purchased Skin Detox and a Colon Cleanser and after one month of faithfully using these products, my skin cleared up. Now, 7 years later – my skin still looks great and people think I’m in my 20’s. I’ve learned that acne can be caused from toxins within the body and you must start cleansing from within. Pay attention to the things you eat and cleanse that colon and you’ll reap many benefits, young and old alike.
WATER, WATER, WATER, We must not forget – drink plenty of water.
proactive didnt workk for me or anyone else i knew.. i used this stuff from avon.. its a 3 step cleaner to. it works great.. just a week and you’ll see better skin.
Tetracycline, prescribed by your dermatologist works quickly and amazingly well for Rosacea.
