An extract from a South African geranium might reduce the length of your next cold by two days if you take it within 48 hours of your first symptoms. A University of Chicago study found that the plant—Pelargonium sidiodes—may weaken viruses and boost your immunity.
The extract is in Nature’s Way Umcka ColdCare; check www.naturesway.com for availability.

I am always looking for ways to fight colds in our home with 3 little ones. The last few times I have felt like I was getting a cold I have used DoTerra’s OnGuard essential oil and I have not come down with a cold. It has worked really well for us.
You can find more information about it here: http://www.doterrahealth.com/doterra-on-guardtm-essential-oil-blend/
Geranium is actually a powerful herb. Herbalists have used it for a variety of herbal remedies for years.

I can also vouch for the medicinal value of Pelargonium – in fact, in Germany it is so popular, that some month’s products like these sell a million units! I dont know which dosage form is available in the US, but in Europe and Africa we have it available in syrup form, which is easy to administer to kids. Instead of importing it from Africa, American companies should start growing it locally!
I will add Geraniums to my herbal arsenol for cold & flu prevention. My favorite herb that I recommend to clients for cold & flu prevention is Elderberry. Recent studies show that Elderberry has immune strengthening properties that can even fight off swine flu. I like the Immunity Take Care formula by New Chapter because it’s research shows that it blocks viruses from entering human cells and it has a dose-guaranteed potency of Elderberry.
