Sophia Bush Loves Her Healthy Curves

Any scoop on the new season of One Tree Hill?
The show is going to be really exciting this year, because it’s taken a dark turn—everyone’s struggling with hard issues.

Let’s talk fitness. You work out with a trainer, right?
With the long hours on the show, it’s hard to get in the gym. But when I was home in L.A. for the summer, I spent four days a week with my trainer, Jason Walsh, who is just…the dude. And I spend a lot of time with Harley Pasternak too. They’re the best trainers in L.A., and they share a similar attitude of “We don’t want you to be skinny, we want you to be in the best shape for you.” I’m not a waif–y girl and never will be. I think it’s healthy when fitness experts encourage fitness rather than getting a certain body shape. And I’m Italian—I love food. I’m not going to cut out bread and pasta and wine to be thinner.

Plus, you’re more fun. We all have friends who won’t touch any bread.
I’m not going to dinner with somebody who eats like a bird, nor do I want to eat like a bird. But it’s weird: In our business, I’m a size 2 and considered curvy. It’s important to remind young women, “Listen, even skinny girls have cellulite, even Halle Berry has cellulite, and what you see in photos isn’t totally real.”

You’re into boxing as well, right?
I love to box. I once took a kickboxing class in college and got totally hooked. One of the things Jason and I do is heavy-bag training. He puts on the padded gloves, and we do combinations. It’s a good thing as a woman to feel powerful, and boxing is a great way to work out all your aggression.

Any other workout obsessions?
I just got a vibrating plate called a VibraSlim and I’m so excited about it. You can work out on it, but I use mine after a workout to shake out my muscles. And what’s neat is that it helps you build bone density. I’m 26 now, and thinking about the fact that women are developing osteoporosis in their 40s.

SINCE WHEN IS BEING A SIZE 2 CURVY FOR SOMEONE WHO IS 5′4″? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SHE IS SKINNY. IF SHE WAS AN 8 OR 10 THEN I WOULD SAY YES, BUT A 2? ANOTHER HOLLYWOOD STAR WHO THINKS SHE IS “FAT”. BUT SHE CALLS HERSELF CURVY. BECUASE SHE SAID SHE WON’T GIVE UP PASTE OR WINE TO LOSE IT.

    • nicki

you don’t have to be rude. i am a huge fan myself, because she is actually a great person. “curvy” doesn’t mean fat. read the interview then judge.

  • Lauren

Actually she stated that in the business of hollywood a size 2 is considered curvy. And she never called herself fat.

  • Jenn

Sounds like Anna just gorged on McDonald’s and is feeling bad.

  • carie

i think it depends on how you are portioned….. she has a nice shape.. but to me size 2 is boney.. thats just me.. if i was size 2 i would look sick being that i am 5′7 i weigh 162 and size 11 i could afford to loose about 15 lbs, but it aint nothing serious.

  • mary

I think that she looks great and has a very healthy perspective of herself! It’s nice to see a younger woman with a little bit of meat on her bones as opposed to seeing ribs and spines. She is beautiful! BTW, the labels inside clothing vary quite a bit from designer to designer. One person could very easily fit perfectly into jeans with three (or more) different labels! Just depends on what designer you wear.

  • Paty

I agree with Anna. Since when is a 2 curvy! I am 5′3 and 115, size 3/4 and I do not consider myself curvy! I am tired of “stick people” (especially Hollywood) calling them self fat or “curvy”. I would like to hold down those people and feed them pasta. Young women have enough issues growing up today; they don’t need to starve themselves to look like their role models in Hollywood.

I have worked on ONE TREE HILL and as a man,Sophia is small and she has this way about her that is sexy. She is curvy and the picture of her holding her heal is true. When I was there she could pull it up to her head. She is kind to people and not stuck up like alot of stars are. She also has weight just like all of us. She is not like a leaf she is a fine lady.

  • Charlie

She said a size 2 is considered curvey in LA where everyone is a size 0, she seems perfectly proportioned for her height in my opinion. It’s easy to think people are too skinny if you have body confidance issues yourself, but at the end of the day she eats healthily and exercises and is happy with herself and she shouldn’t be criticised for that. If your happy with your weight and shape at any size as long as your health isnt at risk there is nothing to worry about.

  • Carey

She annoys me. This is obviously such a publicity stunt.. Anything to reach the tabloids.. because shes not that famous, nor a good actress.. on top of that, sometimes i see her in the ever vapid USmagazine.. and she doesnt look like 2.. more like a 6 with cankles.”Im a size 2 and curvy” whatever. just sounds sooo desperate for attention. STARS HAVE CELLULITE TOO.. duh. especially you Sophia.. just gimmicky and you sound like youre trying sooo hard, at least Ill give you credit for that : )

  • Ashlie

uhhhh why the hell are you bagging her out for the “size two and curvy comment”? I think some of you have some basic comprehension issues– she is NOT implying that she thinks she is “curvy”, she’s making a comment about the fact that in hollywood it’s ridiculous that OTHER PEOPLE consider a size 2 to be “curvy”- as in her industry size zero is pretty much accepted as the norm these days…

personally i think she is gorgeous and a perfect size for her naturally small frame and height, and seems to have a really good attitude toward health and fitness

  • Jane

She has a rockin’ bods ever!!! This state by a straight girl. Love her and her personality.

  • meredith

Sophia Bush seems like the sweetest person on the planet. She works hard to be healthy and no one should bring her down!

  • Erica

Sounds like some people should go back to second grade and learn about reading comprehension again.

Bottom line: She’s not fat and she likes to be pretty healthy. I don’t think she is trying to be “more famous”, just improving her habits. There’s nothing wrong with that.

  • LORI

SOPHIA HAS A PERFECT BODY FOR HER FRAME AND SEEMS LIKE A VERY SWEET PERSON. I REALLY LOVE HER SHOW’S AS WELL.

  • Joanne

I think Sophia Bush is a great role model for the younger generation as she is healthy the way she is and not super boney like some hollywood stars.:) I also think she is a FAB actress. :)

  • H.Ronald

Sophia Bush is amazing, she totally rocks as a an actress and she is hot. this is coming from another straight chick.
She seems very down to earth and genuine.
