Here Comes the Sun: Health’s Second Annual Yoga Celebration, September 27

Our weekly Get Fit blog: The latest news, trends, research, and workout tips

Do you love yoga, spa treatments, making friends, and savoring beautiful autumn afternoons? Are you in the New York City area? Then join us from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, at Wollman Rink in Central Park for Health magazine’s second annual Here Comes the Sun festival!

In all, 20% of the proceeds will benefit the Step Up Women’s Network and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. The event will include:

  • Yoga classes for all levels featuring Sara Ivanhoe and expert instructors from YogaWorks®
  • The chance to learn Vinyasa Flow, Yoga for Beginners, Detox Flow, Mat Pilates, and much more
  • Beauty consultations, delicious tastings, sponsor samples, and fun giveaways!
  • Live musical performance

I’ll be at the event trying out some new classes and hopefully catching some yoga moves and tips on video. Hope to see you there—and check back afterward for our continued coverage!

Is it still on if it rains really heavy on Sat?

  • meghan

Also wondering about Saturday if faced with terrible weather.

  • Amanda MacMillan

The event is on, rain or shine. We have lots of big tents ready, so we’ll stay dry!

  • Maribeth

Rain is supposed to be torrential at times. Is it still a go?

My Mom and I were planning to attend together, but she has shingles and I want to stay home and take care of her. Is there any way I can get a refund for the tickets I purchased online?

I was at this event last year and had a great time. I just do not see how yoga is possible outdoors if the grounds are wet. If the weather does not clear I am afraid I will not attend. I am truely disappointed. I raved about the event last year and 3 of my friends signed up. They also are not going to attend due to the weather. To bad there is not a rain date. Maybe next year

Why isn’t the schedule of classes posted. It would be helpful to know times/types of classes. I believe it was posted last year in advance of the vent.

  • Rebecca

Help! I am really looking forward to this but I can’t find a schedule and it is TOMORROW!

  • Alyson

Hi Rebecca, the event starts is from 11-4 at Wollman Rink in Central Park. Classes begin at 11:15 and go until 3pm when Delta Goodrem plays. See you there!

Attended this year’s event and was soooo happy that I didn’t back out due to the weather. It was fabulous and I thank the event planner and all those who worked to make the event such a success. Loved my facial and back massage.

I hope they have another next year (can you tell me when, as yet). Just a GREAT day!
