I think it's misleading to tout running and then appear to simply glom on add'l exercise/activity. I especially find this misleading w the single stmt about orthopedic problems never 'materializing.' At the age of 23 I was told to stop running for good bc of severe disc herniations that I had to have operated on. I also know another person as a teenager who had stress fractures all the way up her spine for the same reason. There is plenty of evidence that shows links w high impact exercise and skeletal damage (not to mention muscles injury, repeated strains, chronic pain.) I think it's irresponsible to treat this so flippantly in the article.

This is great news!

Let's hope people take this message to heart - sorry, bad pun.

Here is some additional research on how aerobic exercise actually re-models the structure of your heart to work better and longer - http://healthhabits.wordpress.com/2008/04/23/energy-system-training-affects-heart-function-structure/

This is absolutely fantastic news, probably because I love to run. Beyond the obvious physical benefits, the stress reduction and sense of well being I feel make it all the more worth it.

I guess the point is to find your pleasureable activity and go do it. Mix it up and between several and it's even better.
