Monday: We spend most of the day in the air flying back from my friends’ wedding in Central Mexico. The elevation level there was about 8,000 ft, so I suffered from altitude sickness. I haven’t been able to eat or drink for 2 days and I’m sure I didn’t drink enough water, but I feel good about the start of my workout plan.
Tuesday: I wake up early, 6:30 to be exact, to meet Rich at Equinox in the city before going to work. We get acquainted and I quickly see that we’re going to get along great. We talk about expectations for each other and proceed to do a fitness assessment. As it turns out, I have good blood pressure and excellent muscular strength, I’m flexible, and my cardiovascular fitness is fair. So, I have my work cut out for me. After our session I go to work, then leave early to get the photo shoot portion over with. Being a photographer, I am not comfortable in front of the camera, much less in a tight body suit. I suck it up, get a great hair and makeup job and meet some nice people at the Time Inc. digital studio.
Wednesday: I wake up go to the gym before work, hoping to prepare myself for my first real workout with Rich tomorrow. I feel sluggish at first and I hope its just the travel catching up to me. As usual, I am glad I went, and for the rest of the day I am energized.
Thursday: My first full workout and I am not sure what to expect, but I am excited. It ends up not being as crazy as I thought. We do a series of weights, ride the bike, and do lunges. I do feel like I am going to be sore in the morning though. I’m trying to imagine myself running a 10K six months from now and I don’t see it yet. Yet….
Friday: We have a 4-day cardio quota to reach, plus Rich mentioned it would help with the sore muscles that I did in fact have that morning. So I went to the gym and was pretty proud of myself for it. I am a bit concerned with the fact that I have to spend six days working out. Up until now, at best. I was going 2 to 3 times a week and often felt like I was too busy to be able to go more than that. I definitely have to go in the mornings. Less excuses!
Saturday: I sleep in, get up, and go to the gym with my friend, which always helps to motivate. Wow, I surprise even myself. My friend and I then proceed to go grocery shopping—not the best thing to do when you are starving. I spend a fortune but buy healthy things that I plan on putting in my crock pot for the week. I love that thing. I go out to an opening party that night and wear a pair of jeans that I couldn’t button before this week. I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.
Sunday: Today, I rest and stay home from the gym. I have so much work to catch up on that I stare at the computer, pushing pixels around all day! Ugh.
