I've also heard that 1000 milligrams of calcium a day found in low-fat dairy products is not only good for your bones, it also reduces fat intake and increases fat metabolism.

Careful about milk. Some studies suggest the pasteurization process mutates the molecules, and is partly the cause of heart disease

Pomegranate juice is NOT good for lowering your cholesteral if you're taking a statin drug. It actually counteracts the statin in the same way grapefruit juice does. If your doctor has you on a statin drug DO NOT drink pomegranate juice.

Stereotypical healthy living and things that help against heart disease aren't always the same thing. A glass or two of alcohol every day might not seem healthy but it helps quite a bit against heart disease.

I found the dairy industry propaganda disturbing, and then was pleased to see that Darryl had taken the time to post the facts.

While a few "tricks" may help, over-all good health grows out of wholesome wholesome practices, such as sound nutrition, regular exercise, a meaningful life, and having fun. The "tip" about getting enough rest was about the best one, but the idea that nutrition is a matter of adding this or than "miracle" food to an otherwise lousy diet makes little sense. Eating whole foods, as fresh as possible -- local, in-season, and ripe as much as possible -- is essential and really is a matter of common sense.

I have heart problems. I saw this article on my computer and wanted to print it. I wasted 10 sheets of paper before I realized the only thing printed was: 9 Secrets to a Healthier Heart - Healthy Living - Health.com. At the bottom of each page it read: http://living.health.com/2008/02/25/9-secrets-to-a-healthier-heart/. If there is a problem, I thought I would let you know so you can correct it. I am sorry if this was intentional.
