Most of the health problems I had went away when I started taking thyroid replacement medication; everything from fibromyalgia to high cholesterol, symptoms of menopause, stuffiness on the right side of my nose, skin tags fell off, swollen eyes and many more. I am 50. T3 is an important addition to t4 in the event things are not right after maxing out the lab values with t4. Without the addition of time released T3, my world would be upside down. With established lab value ranges that are incorrect, the best way to know if there is a thyroid problem is to have the 2-thyroid antibody blood tests run. You have every right to request this test. Allow your DR to run the standard test first, and the antibody test next instead of putting you through a battery of test like the thyroid scan and the uptake test and so on. It is the best way to get to the bottom of thyroid concerns.
