Which Massage Is Best for You?

To get health benefits, you need a massage that applies moderate pressure. “Your skin needs to be indented as the therapist’s hands move across it,” says Tiffany Field, PhD, director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Here are four basic types that fit the bill.

Thanks Rob for the comment about male theripasts. Speaking of male, Asian and many European men embrace the benefits of the spa and massage therapy. It’s time for stressed-out Western men to learn to address their health needs. Perhaps then we can live as long as women.

No worries, Rob. I *prefer* a male massage therapist — they usually have bigger, stronger hands and give a more thorough deep-tissue massage than the female MT’s I’ve been to. Gimme a guy every time!
