We asked our “age detective” for the subtle signs that reveal a woman’s age. Use these visual clues to guess how old our model is—then try our tricks so you can keep even the pros guessing.
Eyes
Clue no. 1: Barely-there brows.
Where did those luscious lashes and brows go? Chalk it up to the age-related drop in hormones that slows hair growth, and all those years of follicle-destroying tweezing.
What you can do
Stop pruning now. “Go for a professional brow shaping and learn how to maintain your brows so you don’t overtweeze or overwax,” says Maria Verel, Diane Sawyer’s makeup artist.
Color them in. Use a brow pencil like Trish McEvoy’s ($20; nordstrom.com) in a shade slightly lighter than your brows. “Rather than draw a continuous line, make gentle feather strokes,” Verel says. Then use a spiral brow brush or baby toothbrush to blend. Or try Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Fix ($19; anastasia.net), a wax pencil you swipe on the brow and follow with powder for a natural look.
Get primed. A lash primer like Lancôme Cils Booster Mascara Base ($19; lancome-usa.com) conditions and thickens what you’ve got.
Switch mascaras. Swap your lengthening formula for a thickening product like Maybelline’s new Volume Express Turbo Boost Mascara ($7.19; drugstores nationwide). Apply the first coat by placing the wand at the base of your lashes and swishing from side to side. Let it set for 15 seconds, then sweep on a second coat.

She is beautiful!! I can tell that she is at least 36 because of the structure of her bones and tightness of her body. It’s not a bad thing at all, she looks great but she isn’t 20 and probably wouldn’t want to be. She is fab, wonderful and I congrat her on looking so great and be confident at her age. Wonderful.

I guessed she was 44, but I actually think she looks older. One thing this article doesn’t mention is that super low body fat ages your face and neck. Wrinnkles really stand out. But, wrinkles are naturaly plumpled out with a little healthy body fat. Also, this model looks like she smoked and has some irreversible sun damage. Genetics is a big part of healthy skin – thanks mom!

When i first saw her pic, i think she probably in early 50. I’m 47 years old and looks way younger than her. Her skin is too thin this why she looks old. She diffinately not looks younger than her real age.

She looks great for her age. I can tell she’s in her 40s but she’s a good looking 44. She has certainly eaten right and has been very concious of the sun. Who cares how old you look, it’s all about how great you feel.
I’d easily put her in her mid- to late 30s. Hell, her eyes alone are in far better condition than mine or any of my friends (and we’re all in our 30s)! And her belly could put to shame most of those that I’ve seen of the 20-somethings hanging around the pool. She has a very natural look; of course I thnk she was done up that way for the point of this article.

I’ve read the comments of others, and people saying negative things are clearly just compensating for something. I am in my early twenties, very active and eat very healthy and I think she looks great and only hope to look half as good when I am 44! Her body is in an amazing shape, and who ever said she looks in her 50’s is also insane. I am a student doctor, and think that I know a little something about living a healthy lifestyle, and she’s definitely got it. She looks actually as if she is in 30’s. My mom is about her age and in my opinion she looks young for her age, but she does not look anywhere near the age of this model. Great job!

She is a beautiful woman but doesn’t necessarily look younger than she is. These are two different things. She looks like an attractive, fit middle-aged woman.
All of you that have disdain for anyone older than you – don’t worry, time catches up with us all and the generations below you will then be able to poke fun at your wrinkles and sags that will inevitably mark your body. We can fool ourselves and others for a time with facelifts, etc., but even the richest among us cannot escape the inevitable. At least we all end up on a level playing field – although we lie six feet under it!

I’ve found most people posting are extremely negative which is ridiculous. I guess 44, simply because she does not look 34 the next alternative. That said, she’s in shape and takes care of herself so she looks good for her age. She shouldn’t expect to look 1 or 2 decades younger. On the other hand she doesn’t look a decade older as some are implying. I’m sure those comments are coming from folks who are not in this age bracket and have no concept of what it means to look 30, 40 or 50.

I see a courageous, self assured woman. The characteristics of her personality have nothing to do with externals. If the U.S. could not make you feel inadequate if you didn’t have the latest car, piece of technology, exercise equipment, or magical “beauty” potion, capitalism would fail miserably. That is exactly why it works, it keeps us miserable and chasing pipe dreams. Beauty is an internal construct and it is evident this woman has it, and I hope it was well earned.

She looks late fifties early sixties. She still looks good but keep in mind just because you’re thin doesn’t mean you’re healthy. It looks like she only has four toes on her left foot. The pitfalls of wearing womens shoes. Her feet are really nasty looking. On the surface she looks good for her age.

I think she looks good and she looks the age she is. But, I think a lot of people criticize without looking at their own habits. There are many people in their teen’s, 20’s or 30’s drink, do drugs, tan, smoke and eat bad or starve themselves to excess– without a thought to some consequences later in life. Chances are they won’t look so good at her age, but they might also be the first ones to be critical. Everyone thinks 44 is so old when their 20, but not everyone takes care of themselves so they can look like this woman in their 40’s.
I would have voted older if there was an option. However, she looks great for that age. These “tips” don’t fool many I think.

As to the comments about “too skinny”: give me a break. Your comments complaining about the “US ideal for women” is merely a guise to make yourself feel better. She looks great but she is only 44. Unless you have let yourself go completely, 44 is not a big deal. I hardly had a wrinkle or a sag at 44. Now, 62 is a major challenge. If you want to make a point on age you need to get an older model.

Wow! I guessed 50, but I’m a fairly in shape 49 year old. I have to say that with all the poverty in the world, it’s distressing to know that women are spending $700 to $1000 to plump their ear lobes. What women will do for themselves for the sake of vanity and at the expense of what they could do for others shocks and amazes me.
When I first glanced at this model’s photo I right away thought she was in her 40’s. She is in great shape for her age but she doesn’t have the perkiness a 30 something has in her face. She has the more mature look we all get as we age. I ought to know I am a grandma of 4.

She’s in my age group so it was easy to guess her age. I don’t usually read articles like this because I’m a guy and they don’t interest me. All they did was to point out the negative and what products and or services you need to “fix” you. I’ll take the “laugh lines” any day over a woman with no expressions because she’s had her face injected with poison. Every woman is sexy in her own special way, don’t let these negative “body issues” articles make you think otherwise!

i played hockey with her son and he is still one of my best friends. all the people saying stuff dont know what they are talking about and probably wont look as good as she does when they are 44. keep it up mrs. schaffer!!!
